Upon your arrival in Tangier, you will be welcomed at the port or airport and transferred to your accommodation. Tangier, known as the “Gateway to Africa,” is a vibrant coastal city where Europe and Africa meet across the Strait of Gibraltar. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a guided visit through the historic medina and the old Kasbah, with its whitewashed houses and narrow streets filled with local life. A drive to Cape Spartel offers breathtaking views where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean, while the nearby Caves of Hercules provide both myth and mystery, making them one of Tangier’s most visited natural sites. This first evening is perfect to relax after your journey and prepare for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, you will depart from Tangier and travel through the Rif Mountains, passing charming landscapes until reaching the Andalusian-influenced city of Tetouan. Known as the “White Dove,” Tetouan reflects a unique mix of Spanish and Moroccan culture. From here, continue your journey to Chefchaouen, famously called the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco. Nestled in the Rif, Chefchaouen is one of the most picturesque towns in the country, with its blue-painted alleys, peaceful squares, and charming rooftop terraces that overlook the surrounding mountains. Spend the afternoon wandering through its enchanting medina, where artisans sell traditional handicrafts, wool garments, and woven blankets. The relaxed atmosphere of this town makes it a wonderful place to spend the evening.
Leaving Chefchaouen behind, today you will head south toward the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most important Roman archaeological site in Morocco. Walk among the impressive mosaics, basilicas, and ancient streets that once flourished during Roman rule. Continue to the Imperial city of Meknes, once the capital of Morocco under Sultan Moulay Ismail, where grand gates and historic walls testify to the city’s past glory. In the afternoon, the road takes you to Fes, the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco. You will settle into a traditional riad inside or near the old medina, ready to explore one of the world’s most fascinating cities.
Today is entirely dedicated to discovering the wonders of Fes with a local guide. The old medina, Fes el-Bali, is a labyrinth of over 9,000 narrow streets, where donkeys remain the main means of transport. You will visit the famous Al-Qarawiyyin University, the oldest in the world, the beautiful Bou Inania Madrasa, and the colorful tanneries where leather is dyed in traditional stone vats. The medina is also filled with vibrant souks, artisan workshops, and spice shops that reflect centuries of tradition. Beyond the old town, you can also see the Jewish quarter (Mellah) and the Royal Palace’s golden gates. In the evening, return to your riad to enjoy a quiet dinner and the charm of the old city.
After breakfast, begin a long but scenic journey toward the Sahara Desert. The drive takes you first through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture and clean, green streets. You then pass through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you might encounter Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Continuing south, the landscape gradually changes into dry valleys and palm groves, particularly in the Ziz Valley, before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara. In the late afternoon, you will mount camels and trek across the dunes to a luxury desert camp. There you can watch the sunset, enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars, and spend the night listening to Berber music around the campfire.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. You will then ride back by camel or 4x4 and begin the journey toward the spectacular Todra Gorge, where towering cliffs rise dramatically on both sides of the river. It is a favorite place for climbers and walkers alike, and you will have time to explore the gorge before continuing to the Dades Valley. Known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” this region is filled with ancient fortified houses, lush green fields, and dramatic rock formations such as the famous “Monkey Fingers.” Spend the night in a traditional guesthouse overlooking the valley.
After breakfast, depart through the scenic Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, passing rose gardens and small Berber villages. Arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where many international films have been shot. Continue to Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most iconic ksar (fortified village). Its clay architecture and labyrinthine streets are straight out of a film set, having appeared in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka pass, you will eventually arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
Your final day is devoted to discovering the vibrant red city of Marrakech. A guided tour will take you to the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the famous Koutoubia Mosque, whose minaret dominates the skyline. The medina is a colorful maze of souks where you can shop for handicrafts, carpets, and spices. The highlight is the bustling Jemaa el-Fna square, alive with musicians, storytellers, snake charmers, and street food vendors. You can also relax in the peaceful Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent, before your departure. Depending on your schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home, carrying unforgettable memories of your journey through Morocco.
